Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington said he was disappointed and frustrated by his side's display in the 2-1 defeat by Slovakia in Bratislava on Saturday.
"That was a game we should have got something from," said Worthington.
"We changed our shape to keep things tight away from home but conceding two goals was the result of indiscipline.
"For the second goal we were too busy confronting the referee and appealing for a corner and the next thing we knew the ball was in our net," he added.
Worthington said his players "did not get the ball down and pass it in the first half".
"We gave the ball away cheaply and if you do that you must go and chase to get it back.
"We were more like ourselves in the last 20 minutes but by that time we were chasing the game.
"You can't blame the referee for not awarding a penalty or a corner, you just play on until the whistle blows.
"Now we must get a result at home to the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
"We are at home and the crowd will be there. We have got to put on a good performance and get a godo result."
