ULSTER coach, Matt Williams, insists it is time the Province fronted up away from home and addressed the issue of not winning games in Europe and the Magners League outside Belfast.
"It is rubbish to use the 'we have never done it' as an excuse," blasted Williams.

"That is simply not acceptable.

"This group has to address it, front up to it, in exactly the same way as they have to other mental challenges which presented themselves over the past year and they succeeded.

"The field is the same size and same width. It is irrelevant and for professionals to beat Edinburgh and Munster at home and see off a good Scarlets team at home and then say we cannot win away is simply not acceptable to me or anyone in this organisation."

Ulster's victory against Scarlets was their first in Europe against the Welsh region at Ravenhill.

They now go searching for their first ever away win in any competition when they travel to the new Parc y Scarlets Stadium in Llanelli on Friday.

"If it does not happen this week, then it will have to be the Munster game in January, if not then, it will have to be at Edinburgh. But this team is going to learn to win away," added Williams.

"If you want to be successful in Europe you really have to be winning two away games. In the Magners League you have to be winning at least 50 per cent of away games if you want to be Champions.

"Yes, this week is very different from last week in that a lot of the work we had done could have been undone in 80 minutes.

"But the boys went out and won the game. There is much less at stake this week, but we still want to win the match because it is the next step in this group's progress."

An Ulster win and a Stade Francais win at Harlequins would suddenly open up possibilities for the Irish Province again in Pool Four.

"We are not out of it, but if we lose this week then we are. But last week was not about getting four points in Europe, it was about this group of players continuing to progress and that is the focus again this week," said Williams
