Cliftonville picked up their first win of the Setanta Sports Cup when they edged out Dungannon Swifts in a thrilling six-goal contest at, with man of the match Rory Hamill scoring twice against his old club to secure victory.
Cliftonville had opened the scoring after just one minute and 40 seconds when Hamill and Chris Scannell linked up to provide manager's son Mark Patterson with an opening 20 yards from goal.
A low effort from the midfielder was placed just inside the left post forcing a full length save from Swifts keeper Dwayne Nelson but one hand wasn't enough to prevent the ball from getting to the net.
The lead lasted just five minutes before Swifts scored with the best of the game. Started by JP Gallagher with a long ball out of the Dungannon half, Terry Fitzpatrick deserves most of the credit for chesting down to Timmy Adamson for a stunning volleyed finish from just outside the box.
After defending a number of further Swifts attacks, Hamill scored his first after controlling Aaron Smyth's throw in and finishing with an accurate shot inside the left post.
George McMullan made the first error passing back to his keeper when Dungannon were pushing forward, but John Connolly's unnecessary touch saw Baker nipping in to force the ball into the net from inside six yards.
Cliftonville were back in front for the fifth time in three days when Hamill scored his second of the evening.
A further goal came nine minutes from the end when McMullan made up for his earlier blunder to guide a 25 yard free around the Dungannon wall.
