NEWRY City boss Gerry Flynn is urging his players to start putting points on the board as they aim to climb the table.
The Bordermen have won only one of their eight fixtures this season, and drawing five.
City’s inability to edge over the finishing line continues to irk Flynn, and he is demanding improvement when Newry travel to Glenavon this afternoon.
“We ha
ve drawn five of our eight games, so that trend has to stop,” he said.
“We are playing quite good football but we haven’t been killing teams off when on top.
“We lack a killer instinct but we need to find one if we want to move up the table.
“The inability to kill teams off us costing us precious points this season, and if we had won the games we have drawn then we would be in a healthy position.
“But we know we are capable of stringing two or three wins together, and if we can then the boys will notice a radical improvement in the Premiership standings.”
Flynn added: “It is a very tight league this year and everyone is taking points off each other. We have to start translating our decent form into solid results and league points, and hopefully we can do that on Saturday when we travel to Glenavon.
“It is another tough test but we are confident of getting a positive result.”
