Discussions appear to be at an early stage, with no suggestions yet of a date or venue, but a meeting of the two welterweights would draw worldwide attention.

Pacquiao has held the WBO and lineal welterweight titles since 2016, and is currently in his third reign as WBO welterweight champion.
