Local amateur riders are also invited to enter the event for free as part of a nationwide search for the best amateur riders, male and female, from each of the regions the tour visits. The best get invited to compete at the SuperFinals and the chance to win the national amateur champion title.

They will be joined by six professional teams of two elite riders who will all be battling to win the overall Pro Team title. Each Pro Team represents one of the regions the tour visits, and Belfast cycling fans are urged to come out and support the Belfast Titans Pro Cycling Team which will be headed up by two local elite riders Andrea Harrower and Castlewellan’s Nathan McComb, who won the men’s minor final in Round 2 of the series in London.

The racing delivers high energy and excitement as two riders go head to head in an Olympic style sprint pursuit race. The fastest riders progress through the knock-out competition, whilst the losers are eliminated. Spectators can see 100 per cent of the action from the viewing areas and get to be up close to the Pro Riders as they duel to be the top rider of the day.

Series Director Carl Thompson commented: “We are really pleased to be bringing the UK Series to Belfast as part of our mini tour of Northern Ireland and to be part of a truly exciting time for cycling.”
