Blues slump to Danes

Linfield's Europa League dream is in tatters after David Jeffrey's men slumped to a heavy defeat to Danish Superliga side Randers in their first qualifying round, first leg tie last night.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Linfield succumbed again at the start of the second half.

They never recovered and although battled bravely, two late goals was to give the home side a big advantage ahead of the visit to Lurgan.

The Windsor Park side started well but were undone by former Danish international Soren Berg, who opened the scoring in the 36th minute to give the home side the half-time advantage.

Further goals in the second period from Tidiane Sane (47), Marc Nygaard (81) and Kaspar Lorentzen (83) appear to make the second leg at Lurgan's Mourneview Park on July 9 an apparent irrelevance.
