BOXING: Carl Frampton against me would be a massive fight says Lee Selby

Carl Frampton could be next up for Lee Selby if he sees off Andoni Gago in London on Saturday night.

IBF featherweight World champion Selby fights in the 02 in London on the undercard of the giant clash between David Haye and Tony Bellew.

And the Welsh fighter stated this week that promoter Al Haymon had promised him a ‘big name’ when it comes to defending his IBF belt.

“Al Haymon has said that my next title defence will be against either Carl Frampton, Leo Santa Cruz or Abner Mares.

“Those are all big names and super fights and that is what I am looking for.”

And Selby was in Las Vegas when Frampton lost his WBA World title to Santa Cruz and he was impressed.

“It was a good fight but I preferred the first one because I thought it was closer. But they were both great fights and Carl Frampton lost no credit losing to Santa Cruz in Vegas, so a fight between the two of us would still be massive over here,” he said.

Selby, meanwhile, says that he does not go for the trash talk that has gone on between Haye and Bellew before their clash tomorrow night.

“That is not my style. I believe if you can fight then you don’t need to back it up.

“But the two of them can fight - but they are just outspoken. I also don’t think there is much between them and I think it will be ended with a knock-out. I know what way it is going - but I’m not saying.”
