It seems Eddie Hearn and Barry McGuigan have finally agreed on something before their two fighters meet in Manchester on February 27.

Matchroom chief Hearn’s fighter Scott Quigg will take on Cyclone Promotions CEO’s McGuigan’s Carl Frampton in a super-bantamweight WBA and IBF World title showdown.

The fight will take place in front of a packed Manchester Arena with millions watching around the world on television.

And Hearn and McGuigan both agree the fight will be huge and Hearn believes that this massive encounter will be bigger than the second clash between Carl Froch and George Groves at Wembley.

“Obviously you’re always going to find it difficult to better Froch-Groves 2 but I think this fight, on a world scale, is bigger,” he said.

“We’ve taken two super-bantamweights, which historically isn’t a division which attracts big pay days, and we’ve given them a pay day which really represents heavyweight boxing.

“On a world wide scale this fight is bigger than Froch-Groves 2. This is the second biggest fight I’ve made in my promotional career.”

And McGuigan believes this fight will be classic that will be talked about for years.

“This is another Nigel Benn-Chris Eubank. This is a major, major fight.

“I genuinely think, around the world, this is the most eagerly anticipated super-bantamweight fight,” he said.

“Both have got the style to make it very exciting.

“Quigg is more rigid than Carl, he’s a good puncher to body and head, quick on his feet, fairly tight defence. Carl is more fluent.

“But both are explosive. Frampton can really bang to body and head, he’s looser and has a tremendous chin despite the fact that he was down in his last fight. That was complacency.

“It’s a clash of styles with the potential to be another Eubank-Benn, another Froch-Groves.”

And McGuigan believes Frampton and Quigg are lucky to have each other.

“I went through my entire career without having somebody like Carl has got,

“I hadn’t got anybody at the same weight who was an equally good competitor that I could fight. It’s fantastic to have somebody to fight in the UK or Ireland because the atmosphere - particularly in Belfast - has been extraordinary. I’ve been telling everybody, it will feel like it’s Belfast on February 27.”
