WBC World Champion Leo Santa Cruz believes Carl Frampton will beat Kiko Martinez on September 6.

Santa Cruz defends his title against Manuel Roman in Las Vegas on September 13 - but the Mexican reckons Frampton will be crowned the new IBF World champion after taking the title away from Spaniard Martinez in the Titanic Quarter.

“I think Frampton wins that fight and he will become the IBF king.

“It will be a hard fight, maybe even 50/50 but I think Frampton is better and he will beat Martinez.

“I am prepared to come to Europe and face Frampton, Martinez or Scott Quigg - but I leave all that to my manager and promoter,” he added.

And Santa Cruz says that ‘The Jackal’ would also see-off Quigg if they ever meet.

“I think Frampton wins that one. He is just stronger and for me he wins that one.

“Quigg is also a strong fighter but Frampton is just stronger,” he added.

And Frampton says Martinez will not stop his quest to be the best in the division.

“Training has been going very well and I will be ready for September 6.

“I am on the verge of mega fights and Kiko is not derailing that.

“I am about to move house and have a baby on the way - so there is no-way I am losing. It will also be my daughter Carla’s first time attending one of my fights - so I have to win - for so many reasons,” added Frampton.
