McGregor’s non-title bout with Diaz will be at welterweight, which is the heavier 170lb division. He plans to alternate between featherweight and lightweight and was bidding to be the first UFC fighter to hold two world titles at the same time by defeating dos Anjos.

In December, McGregor knocked out Brazilian Jose Aldo in 13 seconds with a sensational performance to become the featherweight champion.

American Holly Holm will defend her belt against Miesha Tate on the same UFC 196 bill.

Holm caused a shock in November when she became women’s bantamweight champion after knocking out Ronda Rousey.
