Ryan Burnett will get 2017 up and running in Hull on February 25.

The Belfast fighter has taken the clash at short notice and will face Mexican Joseafat Reyes [6(1)-7(0)] on the card at the Ice Arena in an eight rounder.

Reyes is a big step down from 24 year old Burnett’s string of opposition since his move to Matchroom, but the fight is an opportunity for him to look good in front of the Sky Sports cameras and stay sharp before a world title fight in the next few months.

Since moving to Matchroom - Burnett has won four times - defeating Jason Booth to win the British title before wins over Anthony Settoul and Cesar Ramirez.

The Adam Booth trainer then defended his Londsale belt against Ryan Farrag in October.

A world title fight in Belfast has been mnetioned by Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn and Burnett will be hoping this can happen.

There are also a number of shows in Belfast in the coming weeks,

Jamie Conlan headlines a show in the Waterfront on March 10.

He will be joined on the bill by Paddy Barnes, Marc McCullough, Steven Ward, James Tennyson, Lewis Crocker among others.

And on March 4 at the Shorts Sports & Social Club in Belfast Luke Wilton and Matt Wilton will both return to action.

KieranFarrell is also running a show in Belfast on April 22 at the Devenish with Sean McGlinchy and Daniel McShane on the bill.

And Mark McGinley has also has a show in the Devenish on March 3.
