Barry McGuigan knows Carl Frampton will deliver against Hugo Cazares at the Odyssey on Friday night.

The Belfast fighter is one fight away from fighting for a World title if he sees off the experienced Mexican and CEO of Cyclone Promotions McGuigan says ‘The Jackal’ must seize the moment and see off two-time World Champion Cazares.

“This is a huge opportunity for Carl to show his ability and shiow what he can do.

“He has reached the stage where he has to pull-out all the stops and look the part and he will, I promise you.

“We are going to have Golden Boy ringside and they are very interested in Carl fighting their WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz.

“This is getting bigger and bigger all the time. We are getting into the big fights now and we are talking about Santa Cruz - but we are totally focused on Cazares because he has the potential to be a banana skin,” he added.

And trainer Shane McGuigan says the camp are not overlooking Cazares in anyway.

“He is a serious guy and we knew he was going to come here looking to win.

“Jeremy Parodi came over and was shocked by the turn-out of the press etc but this guy is a two time World champion, so he will be used to all of this.

“He is very confident and he still thinks he has another World title left in the tank and he wants to make a statement by beating Carl in Belfast.

“He switch hits now but he did not do that at the start os his career. He is very clever, is slippery, likes to fight at a slow pace and he has a good defence which makes him hard to hit.

“I thought he would be a bit smaller than Carl - but he is about the same height, so he must have been a huge light flyweight.”

But Shane is convinced Frampton will have too much for his rival.

“One hundred percent. There is no doubt in my head that Carl will come away with a win. Maybe not a stoppage win, but he will win the fight.

“I believe Carl will stop him around the eight round mark but we are prepared for 12 tough rounds.”

“We have done loads of sparring with numerous sparring partners, who all fight like Cazares.

“There is talk from his camp that we are looking past Cazares and thinking about the Santa Cruz fight but we are taking Cazares very seriously and we are totally focused on him.

“If he stops Hugo Cazares it will be a huge statement because Cazares has not been stopped swince 1999 and Carl has the power and the shot selection to do it - but we just want the win.
