Barry McGuigan is sure Hugo Cazares will face ‘a new improved’ Carl Frampton at the Odyssey on April 4.
Tigers Bay fighter Frampton takes on the two time World Champion in a Final Eliminator for the WBC World title and McGuigan says Belfast fight fans are in for a treat.
“He is maturing in every way. He is getting better and my concern with him that he was always a very good counter-puncher but he was not that impressive at going forward - unless he had hurt guys.
“But now he can hunt guys down and he does in intelligently. He closes down the distance very well.
“He can make you throw and then beat you to the punch. He is really clever in the ring and he is bowling over guys in the gym during sparring.
“Carl is getting better all the time,” he added.
But former World Champion McGuigan says Cazares will pose Frampton a few problems on the night.
“This guy will give himproblems. He does not move like Steve Molitor. He won’t move back as quickly like Jermey Parodi.
“He will stand and have a fight but it will be under his terms and he will try to be clever.
“We have a gameplan and that is that he will have to go and get him.
“It’s not just about winning. It’s about winning in an immpressive manner and he has the power to blast out any Super-bantamweight in the world.”
Tickets for the Odyssey show have been flying out but McGuigan says Cazares will be used to a hostile reception.
“He will be used to all this and it will just be another day at the office for him.
“He will be much more difficult than Steve Molitor. He is far more clever in the ring than Kiko Martinez.
“He is also very experienced, he can bang as well as he has a great left hook.
“So because of all these things Carl will have to be switched on from the first bell top the last bell.”
