Bernard Dunne sure Carl Frampton will beat Kiko Martinez

AGGRESSIVE: Carl Frampton

AGGRESSIVE: Carl Frampton

Former World Champion Bernard Dunne is convinced Carl Frampton has the tools to beat Kiko Martinez at the Odyssey on February 9.

Tigers Bay fighter Frampton is challenging Martinez for the Spaniards European title and Dunne - who was stopped by Martinez in just 86 seconds back in 2007 - is convinced ‘The Jackal’ will still have too much for the Spaniard when the pair meet.

“It is a different fight than when I boxed Kiko. My style however is very different than Carl’s.

“Carl is a little more squat than me and a little bit more aggressive. I think Kiko is a better fighter than when he fought me.

“I think Kiko has a little more boxing ability about him and I think he has improved.

“I still think Carl is clever enough, he has been educated in the right way and has been built up the right way to overcome it,” Dunne said.

But Dunne has warned Frampton to be wary of the Martinez’s punching power.

“With Kiko’s power he has to be clever about his attacks but Carl’s hands are very fast.

“He doesn’t just attack the head he looks for the body and picks his shots really well.

“Carl also has fantastic upper body movement and he has power as well. so it will be a good fight,” added Dunne.
