Bernardo Checa is sure Luke Wilton has plenty left in tank

MORE TO COME: From east Belfasts Luke Wilton

MORE TO COME: From east Belfasts Luke Wilton

Luke Wilton still has loads to look forward to according to his trainer Bernardo Checa.

East Belfast flyweight Wilton lost in his bid to dethrone British and Commonwealth champion Kevin Satchell in Liverpool on Saturday night.

But Checa was proud of his fighter’s efforts against the talented Satchell.

“I think he fought well. He was well prepared for the fight but Kevin was a little stronger than we thought, he took all the shots.

“We were pushing and pushing, we knew that we had gone behind in the fight and so we were motivating Luke to throw more punches,” continued Checa.

“I was saying to him ‘throw more, more’ because he did well when he did that.

“It was a good fight but it just went to the better man.

“Both fighters were obviously well prepared but unfortunately Satchell was the better fighter,” concluded Checa.

“No qualms about the result, but Luke will be back. He trained very hard for this fight and he proved that he belongs at this level.

“Luke also proved he can go 12 rounds and he showed loads of heart against Satchell. There is more to come from him
