Trainer John Breen is hoping his double comes in at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on Friday night.

Breen - who has trained numerous champions - will once again be in the corner as two of his young charges try to keep their winning streaks on track.

The Belfast trainer will watch on as his fighters Marc McCullough and Jamie Conlan strut their stuff at the Belfast venue.

Shankill Road lad McCullough takes on the undefeated Martin Parlagi for the vacant WBO European Featherweight title, while west Belfast lad Conlan will defend his WBO European Super-flyweight belt against Gabor Molnar.

McCullough’s opponent comes to the ring with good pedigree as an amateur and he is still unbeaten as a professional but Breen believes McCullough has the tools in his armoury to get the job done.

“Marc has been training and sparring very well and I believe he will get the job done.

“When we told Marc who he was fighting he took about 28 seconds to say ‘yes.’

“Marc knows he has to beat guys like this if he is to make it to the very top. It is a tough fight for him but Marc is very strong for the weight and I believe he will deliver on the night,” he added.

And Breen is also sure that Conlan will defend his title at the Waterfront.

“I have been talking about Jamie for years and he is now starting to the get the acclaim he deserves.

“Jamie is a top talent and now that Paul Butler is a world champion, the British title is there for the taking,” he added.

After Friday night’s encounters Breen will leave his Belfast City gym after 16 years and he says he is sorry to move on.

“So many great memories and I have to thank the owner of the premises for letting me stay for so long. I really appreciate it and now we have to leave. I want to leave the gym with two WBO European title holders on the books. I am looking forward to the future and the getting to work at the new gym,” he added.

Conrad Cummings, Willie Casey and Conal Carmichael will also be on the bill.

Tickets can be got at 07802898054.
