Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton eyed his prey for the first time on Friday before he lures Hugo Cazares into his lair on April 4.

Tigers Bay Super-bantamweight Frampton gave his Mexican opponent the once over before they meet in a Final Eliminator for the WBC World title at a packed out Odyssey Arena.

Cazares – going by his body language and demeanour yesterday – is not a lamb being led t0 the slaughter.

The Mexican – a veteran of 15 World title fights – knows his way around the ring and ‘The Jackal’ will have to be careful that he is not ambushed and caught in a trap when they meet at the Belfast venue.

Frampton – who looked calm and relaxed – says he is wary of the bite that Cazares has in his armoury.

“He is easily the most experienced fighter I have fought. I think he has had nearly as many World title fights, as I have had fights, so it is going to be very, very tough.

“But I have trained very hard for this fight. I think I am in the shape of my life.

“I am 27 years old and I think over the next two to three years you are going to see the best of me.

“From now I am ready for the big guys st starting with Cazares,” he added.

A big night lies ahead but will Frampton reign or will Cazares leave the ‘Jackal’s Lair’ with his scalp intact?
