Dave ‘Boy’ McAuley is hoping and praying that Carl Frampton never loses that winning feeling.

Tigers Bay fighter Frampton faces experienced Mexican Hugo Cazares in a Final Eliminator for the WBC World title at the Odyssey Arena on Friday night, and after that a showdown with WBC Super-bantamweight king Leo Santa Cruz is on the cards.

And former IBF Flyweight World champion McAuley insists nothing in this world beats winning when two fighters collide in the ring.

“Winning a fight is the greatest thing in the world. It is feeling that cannot be matched by anything else.

“That feeling is the same if you win your first professional fight or you are fighting for a World title.

“To win a fight is the greatest sensation and nothing else compares to that. Only fighters would understand what I am talking about,” he added.

And McAuley says winning his World title at the third attempt was something that still gives him goosebumps.

“It was the greatest feeling ever. You are the best in the world and after I won my World title I was floating on air for weeks.

“No-one really understands what it is like to win a World title. Football teams win the World Cup – but there are 11 players in the team. In boxing and it is just you and another guy.

“To win a World title is a very, very special thing. I believe, hope and pray that Carl beats Cazares and goes onto win a World title.

“I want Carl to experience that feeling and everything that comes with it.

“The money, the fame and the recognition is great – but that feeling when you win a World title is something else. It really is,” he added.
