Dave ‘Boy’ McAuley can’t pick a winner between Carl Froch and George Groves before they take to the ring at Wembley Arena on Saturday night.

Froch will put his IBF and WBA titles on the line against Groves in their rematch at the London venue in front of over 80,000 fans.

A rematch was called between the two after the first encounter was controversially stopped by referee Howard Foster in the ninth round.

Froch won that battle after being put down in the first round by a massive right hand from Groves.

The bookmakers can hardly split them this time around and McAuley is also finding it difficult to pick a winner.

“This is a tough one, and you would be better tossing a coin to see who you go for.

“I just think there is very little between them and I think the two of them will be very wary of the other.

“They both know the other guy can hurt them and that will be in the back of their minds.

“My only worry is that the rematch will not be good as the first fight. The two of them will be cagey,” he added.

McAuley can appreciate what will be going through the two fighters’ minds when they enter the ring at Wembley.

“I remember my first fights against Fidel Bassa and Rudulfo Blanco because they were both wars.

“I had a rematch with both of them and Blanco and Bassa both knew that I could hurt them – but they knew they could hurt me.

“And when you know a guy can hurt you, thay makes you wary and you play more of a waiting game.

“You wait for the other guy to make a mistake and you are not as trigger happy or aggressive.

“Froch was down in the first round of the first fight – so he knows Groves has the power to hurt him but Froch hurt Groves during the fight and that will play on his mind.

“I thought the first fight was stopped too early but a part of Groves’ head will tell him he lost that fight.

“The two of them will be challenged mentally on Saturday night. It’s a whole new ball name when you know that the guy in the other corner can hurt you and take you out,” he added.
