The Northern Ireland boxing team for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer have thrown their weight behind Carl Frampton ahead of his World title clash with Kiko Martinez.

Belfast boy Frampton will attempt to dethrone IBF king in the Titanic Quarter on September 6.

And Northern Ireland team member Michael Conlan, Paddy Barnes and Steven Donnelly all believe ‘The Jackal’ will have too much bite for Martinez when they meet in the ring.

And Conlan - whose brother Jamie will fight on the under card of the Frampton clash - believes Frampton will do the business.

“It was fight the last time and it was nip and tuck until the knock-out.

“But I think Carl has improved massively since the last fight and Kiko has only improved slightly.

“Kiko is a brawler and can’t change and I think Carl will put him down late on,” he added.

And Barnes says the belt is Frampton’s.

“Carl win and stop Kiko at some stage. I am really excited about that fight and it will be a great night for boxing in Belfast.

Donnelly echoed Barnes and Conlan’s predictions.

“We are all going and Carl will win. It will tough but he the tools to get the job done.”
