Jamie Conlan is relishing the challenge that awaits him on Saturday night in Belfast.
Conlan faces Jose Estrella for the WBO Inter-Continental title after original opponent Daryl Basadre withdrew this week because of injury.
But ‘The Mexican’ admitted at Wednesday’s open training session in Belfast that he kind of knew that Basadre would not hear the first bell.
“I heard about four weeks ago that Basadre was struggling - so I have been training with Estrella in mind.
“He is aggressive, in your face - a typical Mexican fighter. I think it will be explosive and I don’t see it going past eight rounds,” he added.
A huge crowd turned up for the open training session in Victoria Square and Conlan says he is buzzing before the clash.
“There is a great crowd here and the atmosphere on Saturday night is going to be electric.
“I am really looking forward to getting in there and this is the show that fighters dream of being on,” he added.
And Conlan knows winning on Saturday night would move him closer to a shot for the WBO World title.
“Winning on Saturday night would be put me in the top three or four of the WBO rankings.
“This time last year you never would have thought this would be happening. “
