Jamie Conlan will be looking to make his title breakthrough at the Odyssey Arena on October 19.
Conlan – who fought out of the St John Bosco club as an amateur – has been touted as a huge talent since he turned professional.
And at the Odyssey he will get his chance to prove his backers right as he takes on Hassan Azaouagh for the WBO European title.
And Conlan says he is ready to prove his worth.
“I want to go out, win the fight, impress and get my foot in the door,” he said.
“I love boxing and it would be great to have something to show for all my hard work. This is my chance to prove to everyone that I have the skills and the talent to go a long way in the sport.”
And Conlan believes his Super flyweight fight with Azaouagh will not go the distance.
“I have not really looked at him. I leave all that to John Breen and my dad,” he added.
“They have both told me that he is tough and he can bang a bit. But I can also bang, so I cannot see it going the distance. I don’t think it will be an early stoppage - but it will be over early.”
The show – which Carl Frampton headlines in a IBF World title eliminator – is going to be a sell-out and Conlan can’t wait to get started.
“The crowd will be amazing. It will be a great night and I will get my hands on the belt.”
