Martin Lindsay’s brave effort to get his hands on the British and Commonwealth titles ended in defeat in Leeds on Wednesday night.
Gallant Lindsay was beaten on points by the younger and fresher Josh Warrington.
Sadly Lindsay paid the price for being inactive for the last year but to his credit he went down fighting.
The three judges scored the fight 119-110 in Warrington’s favour.
And the champion was pleased with the victory.
“I am living the dream. When I set out as a professional this was what I wanted to achieve,” Warrington said.
“To do it in front of this Leeds crowd is fantastic.
“Martin was as hard as they come. I hit him with some good, clean shots but he kept coming. He digs hard too so I couldn’t take any chances.
“Full credit to him. I wobbled him a couple of times but I was wary of his big shots.”
