Martin Rogan makes welcome ring return

Martin Rogan

Martin Rogan

Martin Rogan will once again strut his stuff at the Odyssey Arena on February 9.

The colourful heavyweight will return to action on the undercard of the Carl Frampton versus kiko Martinez European title clash at the Belfast venue.

Rogan - beaten by Tyson Fury in his last outing in April last year - is glad to be once more climbing through the ropes.

“I have to say a big ‘thank you’ to Eddie Hearn at Matchroom for organising this fight. I am looking forward to fighting again at the Odyssey and I am looking to get back to winning ways.

“The bill at the Odyssey is fantastic with Carl Frampton, Martin Lindsay, Jamie Conlan. plus loads of other local fighters taking part.

“These are the kinds of fighters and fights that Belfast fans love and there will be a huge crowd there on the night.

“I just hope that all the guys who are fighting for titles win those fights, because that will mean more huge nights of boxing in Belfast. Which is something we all want.

“These shows at home are great because it is very difficult to get on shows across the water. It’s just too expensive for promoters over there to keep flying us backwards and forwards. So the more fights here the better,” he added.

And what is Rogan’s plan for February 9?

“Win and win in style. This is my comeback fight after the Fury defeat. I have a couple of other things in the pipeline, but I have to win at the Odyssey on February 9 and then take it from there.

“It is great to be back and I have been training away, so I am good enough shape for the fight with just over four weeks to go.

“I was over in Thailand sparring in December and I will be ready to go at the Odyssey. The show looks to be heading towards a sell-out which will be great for boxing here,” he added.
