Paul McCloskey will be looking to make a statement when he takes to the ring in Leeds on Saturday night.
The former European champion and World title challenger will face Dave Ryan in an eight rounder in his first fight since September 2012.
The Dungiven southpaw has always been hugely talented but he knows that he is running out of time if he wants to make it to the summit of the light-welterweight division.
“I am just looking forward to getting back into the ring and do what I do best.
“It has been a long time since I last fought and it has been very frustrating but I want to win this fight and impress while doing it.
“This is a chance for me to bet back up and running and 2014 could be a big year fior me.
“This year has been hard and I had hoped to get on a few shows through the year, but I was let down on a few occassions.
“I am looking forward to this fight and getting back to fighting and getting back to winning ways,” he added.
And McCloskey has been impressed by Carl Frampton in the past 12 months.
“He is doing very well and he is right up there fighting for World titles. I wish him well and hopefully I can get back among the mix very soon.
“Preparation has gone very well and I am up for this fight, It is a chance for me to prove that I am still about and I have still got loads to offer.
“You haven’t got rid of me yet,” he added.
