TYSON Fury is searching for a new opponent after Denis Boytsov withdrew from their WBC heavyweight World title eliminator at the Odyssey on December 1.

The Russian was expected to represent a step up in class for Fury having won all 31 of his fights with 25 of those clashes finishing inside the distance.

But Fury’s uncle and trainer Peter Fury confirmed last night that Boytsov has withdrawn from the clash, though the pair could clash in February.

Peter Fury tweeted: ‘I’m sorry to announce Boytsov is out.

“We looking to reschedule the fight for mid feb. Boytsov said he needs more time to prepare for Tyson.”

He added: ‘We are now on with another opponent for Dec 1st. That’s all I know for now.”

Local fighters John Hutchinson, Gerard Healy, Daniel McShane, Matthew Wilton, Marc McCullough and Stephen Haughian are all expected to take part on the night.

And after a third straight knockout win over Hungarian Ignac Kassai in Dublin on Saturday night,

Belfast’s James Tennyson will make his Scottish debut on the Prospect Boxing show on December 7 at Rivals Gym, in Wishaw.

Tennyson will face the experienced Mickey Coveney.
