Bryan Kean to compete at City of Derry Triathalon

Bryan Kean - who has qualified for this summer's Olympic Games - will compete at the City of Derry Triathlon on Sunday June 19.

The 35 year old from Cork plans to use this race as part of his training build up to the Olympic Games, which are due to take place this August in Rio.

Commenting on why he chose to compete in the firmus energy City of Derry Triathlon Bryan explained: “This event is a great training opportunity for me and, although I’ve never taken part in this challenge before, I’ve heard all about it from fellow Olympian Aileen Morrison who won the ladies race in 2014. She advised me that if I ever got a chance to take part, I should as it was one of the best races and courses in Ireland and with such a recommendation, I was determined to take my place at the race.

“And Being away from home for nine months and competing all over the world, I am delighted to get a race on home soil in 2016 and itis something I’m really looking forward to. Some years it hasn’t been possible to race at home and what makes it all the sweeter is that I get to that my place is booked at the Rio Olympics and it’s fantastic to be able to share this with the triathlon community ahead of the Games.”
