World featherweight champion Carl Frampton has hinted that a rematch against Leo Santa Cruz could happen in December.
The undefeated Belfast man took the WBA belt from Santa Cruz in a Fight of the Year contender in New York on July 30.
Straight after that fight at the Barclays Centre Santa Cruz called for a rematch and it now seems he may get his wish.
“It is the fight people are talking about and potentially it is going to be the next one for me. There is to be a meeting next week,” said Frampton.
“Santa Cruz is the fight I am keen for and I feel I can beat him anywhere in the world.”
Frampton had hoped he would take on Santa Cruz in front of a Belfast audience next summer, but it know seems the rematch will take place in the USA.
“America is the most likely destination,” he said.
“If it had been the summer we could have done outdoors in Belfast, but Windsor Park in December is not going to work.”
