Cavehill Bowls Club show way forward as they look for new members

Cavehill Bowls Club throw open its North Circular Road doors for a three month period, starting tomorrow.

Club members will roll out the welcome mat every Saturday afternoon – 2pm-4.30pm – to anyone who wants to take up the sport.

The project will run until the end of March.

“No previous bowling experience is necessary,” said Cavehill stalwart Tom Sutton, who has been 53 years at the club.

“Everyone is welcome . . . male or female; young, middle-aged or old, there is no age barrier.

“It’s an opportunity for anyone interested to come along and experience playing the game and enjoy the facilities at the club.

“We have three indoor mats available.

“There will be experienced bowlers and qualified coaches on hand to help out.

“There is no charge for taking part.

“The only item required is a pair of flat shoes. Sets of bowls are also available.

“Bowls is one of the friendliest sports to be involved in and we will offer a warm welcome to anyone interested.

The scheme has proved to be very successful for the club in previous years, having gained many new members.”

Anyone interested can contact: Tom Best (02890719147) or Tom Sutton (02893350689).
