LOCAL CRICKET; Batsman Chambers joins CIYMS

Chambers moves to Belmont where he will be reunited with CI coach Derek Heasley, a former team-mate of Chambers at Pollock Park.

The wicketkeeper-batsman’s arrival will strengthen CI’s batting following the departure of Nathan Burns to North Down.

Chambers began his career at Millpark, before moving to Waringstown, where he was part of the villagers’ Junior Cup winning team in 2002.

He later moved to Lurgan where he has forged a successful senior career.

He was one of the most consistent run-scorers in Section One last season, but his departure is a major blow to Lurgan’s efforts to return to the top flight.

Chambers joins fellow new signings Allen Coulter, Zach Rushe and professional Justin Kemp at Belmont.
