'European draw couldn't be better for supporters – or me!'

RANGERS fans should be relishing this season's Champions League following yesterday's draw – I certainly am.

Getting Manchester United is a massive attraction for supporters.

Valencia and Bursaspor are no mugs either, but the prospect of going to Old Trafford – and having the Red Devils visit Ibrox – is a something to whet the appetite.

I have been a United fan all my life, so I can't wait for the two games to come along.

It would be great to get playing against the likes of Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes, but even if I am on the bench it will still be a big occasion.

Ironically, I was planning to go watch United play Liverpool at Old Trafford in a couple of months' time.

I was talking to a friend two nights ago about going to the game, but now I am hoping to get a run-out at the Theatre of Dreams.

I have never been to Old Trafford as a fan, so to actually play there would be a dream come true.

Getting a game against the likes of Ryan Giggs would be another dream – or maybe a nightmare – but I would love the chance.

There is also the Northern Ireland connection with United – Jonny and Corry Evans are there and also Oliver Norwood.

Jonny has been playing for the first team this season, so he seems to be doing well.

As for our own domestic campaign we recorded another good win on Saturday - but it didn't come without some controversy.

Unfortunately my international team-mate Kyle Lafferty got his marching orders – but I think he was unlucky to get sent off.

I think he has been harshly treated.

Kyle maybe over-reacted, but I think the referee was a little strict in sending him off.

It is disappointing for him, because he had really knuckled down and had started the season well.

He also had the fans onside again with the goals he got at the end of last season.

This incident isn't helpful, but I know Kyle will bounce back from it.

He has coped with these kinds of setbacks before and he will do it again.

He will unfortunately be suspended for this weekend's game with St Johnstone, but he has the international break to come and then he will come back all guns firing.

Unfortunately I won't be making the trip to Slovenia for Northern Ireland's opening European qualifier.

Nigel phoned me last week to inform me of his decision, and I respect him for doing that.

He explained it has nothing to do with my performances, he just prefers to have more experienced players make the trip.

I can appreciate that, and maybe me going with the Under 21s will get me more game time.

I am looking forward to teaming up with Steve Beaglehole and Alfie Wylie.

They were a big influence during the Milk Cup two years ago and hopefully I can impress and maybe get back into Nigel's plans in the future.
