FOOTBALL: Leeman frustrated at injury set-back
GLENTORAN skipper Paul Leeman admits his focus has now turned to next season after injury ruled him out of the remainder of the current campaign.
Leeman was stretchered off at the end of Saturday's Setanta Sports Cup draw with Bohemians in Dublin after jarring his knee.
The 32-year-old underwent a scan on Monday which revealed some damage to the cruciate ligament and cartilage in his left knee, as well as a hairline fracture.
Specialists will now conduct follow-up tests to confirm the extent of the injury.
"I hope to find out in the next 24 to 48 hours," Leeman said.
"It is a bad injury, and I will be out for the rest of the season, but hopefully it isn't anything career-threatening.
"I have to take it easy for five or six weeks so that puts paid to any more football. We have some massive games coming up, including the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup, so it is bitterly disappointing to miss out on that."
