Barry Gray believes Warrenpoint Town wasted a “big opportunity” after being knocked out of the Irish Cup on Monday night.
‘Town were dumped out at the sixth round stage by Championship 1 club Bangor courtesy of a 1-0 replay defeat.
With Queen’s University waiting the winners in the quarter-finals, Gray was left to rue what could have been for the Premiership club.
“It is a big opportunity missed. Tonight’s game was frustrating, because I am not happy with our level of performance,” Gray said of the defeat to Bangor.
“The work the backroom staff put in, and then they are treated to this. We had a big chance to reach the semi-finals of the Irish Cup, and it had a lot of implications, whether they be financial or whatever.
“Tonight wasn’t good enough.
“I don’t think it was complacency – it was basically down to the players not doing what they’re told.
“We can take players having off-games, if they stick to the system.”
