The Reds bounced back from an insipid display against Coleraine on Saturday with a spirited 2-0 victory over Glentoran.

Goals from Jay Donnelly and Stephen Garrett saw the north Belfast club move into third spot in the Danske Bank Premiership.

“I got the response I wanted – the boys were fantastic,” Lyttle said.

“The attitude and togetherness of the lads was great.

“Saturday was disappointing against Coleraine, but we wanted to make sure it was a one-off.”

Tuesday was an emotional night for Reds boss Lyttle, who dedicated the victory on Mersey Street to his cousin Jack White who tragically died from an asthma attack earlier that day.

“That win is for Jack who passed away this morning,” Lyttle revealed.

“He was only 14 and sadly suffered a fatal asthma attack. It puts things into perspective when something like that happens.

“It is devastating news.”
