It was a great win for the east Belfast side as the victory secured Glentoran’s top-six finish as they are nine points ahead of seventh-placed Dungannon Swifts with only two sets of fixtures remaining before the split.

But it was Soares who put Portadown ahead in the first minute as he stunned the home support with this early strike.

But then Allen - who has looked dangerous this season in frony of goal - levelled a minute from half-time after a neat build-up.

Portadown’s Sean Mackle was then sent off after a hand ball led to his second yellow card in the 84th minute and Allen curled in the resultant free-kick to give his side the win and three vital league points.
