Kenny Miller disappointed with Rangers display

For substitute Kenny Miller there was no question that the 1-1 draw was less than satisfactory.

“Ultimately we are disappointed that we haven’t won all three points. We came out flying - I felt that we created at least chance after chance after chance throughout the game.

“We need to be more clinical. It isn’t good enough that we’ve taken just one. We appreciate that you can’t score four or five in every game - but equally you can’t always keep a clean sheet.

“However I will be happy if we keep creating the same number of chances in each game between now and the end of the season.

“We created several really good chances in the opening twenty minutes that on any other day we would have taken at least a couple of them.

“We kept fighting right until the very end. However you are always vulnerable to set-pieces and counter-attacks and that is what happened.

“ It was frustrating to lose a goal like that because we had so much possession.”

The striker was full of praise for the stubbornness of the ‘Wasps’.

“All credit to Alloa however - they weathered the storm in the opening half-an-hour and stuck at their job. Their goalkeeper had an inspired day.”

There was sympathy from Miller for leading scorer Martyn Waghorn who has now failed to find the net in five consecutive games.

“It’s just something that happens. Martyn’s been phenomenal in his first year at the club.

“The level of goals and the consistency of his play has been fantastic. He’s perhaps going through something of a dry spell at the moment and there’s no doubt that a player of his quality will come through this period.”

Meanwhile Mark Warburton likewise shared his players’ angst at the failure to secure all three points against the side currently propping up the division.

“It was frustrating. For all the good work we did we didn’t get the end rewards. The players are angry and irate.

“We have to be more clinical in front of goal. We could have been one up after one minute, two up after five, and five or six ahead by halftime,” he added.

We created chance after chance - but in football you need to put the ball in the back of the net.

“Today we scored only one goal - but it could have been double figures. There’s no excuses - goals change games and we should have been out of sight at half-time.”

There was praise from the Ibrox Boss for new signing Michael O’Halloran whose late equaliser was his first goal for the club - and for substitute Billy King.

“I’m really pleased for Michael - he looked really dangerous and was excellent in the closing stages. Billy King also did well on the left with good movement.”
