Goals from Scott McArthur and Tom Mathieson were enough to keep their hopes of glory alive.

“It’s brilliant to get into the semi-final and the boys have really deserved it,” said Down coach Aaron Boyd.

“We will be the underdogs as Hibs are the professional club but there is no reason why we can’t cause an upset.

“It probably is the draw all the players would have liked and I’m sure it will be slightly easier for John (Bailie) to set up the side.

“They are obviously a strong side but we have shown we have quality, too and we’re all looking forward to it.”

Hibs made sure of their place in the semis with a 2-0 win over Strikers.

County Tyrone will face Club America in the Vase semi-final at Parker Avenue after losing out to O’Higgins and County Armagh will be up against Belgian side KV Mechelen at Castlerock.

In the Globe semi-finals, Icifuna face Osasco at Broughshane and Newcastle United will try to get past African side Lusaka at Riada Stadium in Ballymoney.

Ponte Prete, who defeated Londonderry 3-0 on Wednesday night, face Right to Dream in the Bowl semi-final at The Warren, Portstewart and Spanish side Real Sociedad were drawn with Strikersat Rugby Avenue, Coleraine.

County Fermanagh, who lost 2-1 to Right to Dream despite Jacob Britton’s strike, and County Londondery will now contest the Salver, along with Vendee, MS Select, Alset Columbia and Otago.
