FOOTBALL: Patterson staying at Coleraine
COLERAINE chairman Hugh Wade has aired his "delight" after Glentoran failed in their attempt to sign Rory Patterson on transfer deadline day.
The Glens put a revised offer over the weekend that "fell short" of the Bannsiders' demands.
Patterson has already signed a pre-contract agreement to join Glentoran next summer, but Alan McDonald's champions tried a number of attempts to lure the hit-man to The Oval before yesterday's deadline.
"Rory is staying at Coleraine for the rest of the season and we are delighted," Wade said.
"Glentoran came back to us with a revised offer but it wasn't satisfactory. We rate Rory very highly, and he will be a pivotal player for us for the remainder of the season.
"We are in the semi-finals of the Co-op Cup, still in the Irish Cup and doing well in the Premiership, so we need him."
Meanwhile Coleraine have signed Stephen Lowry from Limavady United.
The 23-year-old has agreed an 18-month deal.
Bannsiders boss David Platt said: "I am delighted to get Stephen. He is a quality player and is versatile."
In other transfer deadline news, Coleraine's Tony Shields has joined Institute, while Lisburn Distillery have brought four new faces to Ballyskeagh.
Former Derry City striker Aaron Nash, Ballymoney United's Mark Kelly and former Dungannon defender John Curran are moving to Tommy Wright's side.
Ballymena United defender Paul Muir also returns to the Whites.
