FOOTBALL: Worthy delight at Healy move

NIGEL Worthington believes David Healy has made the right move in joining Ipswich Town to the end of the season.

Healy last night linked up with former boss Roy Keane after agreeing a loan move to the Coca-Cola Championship side.

The Northern Ireland international – who was brought to Sunderland by Keane in August 2008 – will now look to revive his career in the second tier of English football.

It is a much-needed move for the out-of-favour Black Cats striker who has failed to make an impact at the Stadium of Light since his arrival on Wearside 17 months ago.

And for international manager Worthington, it is a welcome development in the 30-year-old's career.

"This is a great move for David, and it will ensure he is playing regular first team football," Worthington said.

"It is vital to be playing regularly, especially when it comes to competing at international level.

"This will be a break from the long, arduous spell on the sidelines he has experienced at Sunderland."

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland team-mate Damien Johnson is also on the move.

Johnson has moved from Birmingham City to Plymouth.

"Again, it is a good move for Damien," Worthington added.

"He will also get a good run of games under his belt which is only good news for Northern Ireland."

Leicester City striker Billy Kee – who starred in last summer's Milk Cup for Northern Ireland – has also extended his loan spell with Accrington Stanley.
