Dungannon Swifts have completed the signing of striker Andrew Mitchell.
The former Glenavon forward – who spent last season on loan with Ards – has agreed a one-year deal with Darren Murphy’s side.
“I am delighted that Andrew opted to sign for us despite having other options to choose from in the Premiership,” Murphy said.
“After viewing the facilities available at the Swifts and Dungannon United Youth, along with other aspects of Swifts life, Andrew felt that signing for us was the best option available for him and his football career.
“He has told me that he can’t wait to get started back for the new season – he is really looking forward to working with Rod and meeting up with his new teammates.”
Mitchell played over 30 games for relegated Ards last season, and featured in Northern Ireland’s Elite side at last summer’s Milk Cup tournament.
The towering striker bagged a memorable goal against Denmark, and Swifts boss Murphy is confident the striker can make an impact at Stangmore Park.
“Andy wanted an opportunity to prove himself and I am delighted that I can give him this,” Murphy added.
“I hope that he settles in well and hits the ground running as he is a great lad and has been a pleasure to deal with.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Chris Lavery and defender Andrew Burns have both agreed new one-year deals.
