Defender Andy Hunter insists Ards are not pressing any panic buttons despite propping up the bottom of the Danske Bank Premiership table.
It has been a baptism of fire for last season’s Championship winners who have won just one of their opening seven fixtures.
Niall Currie’s side have lost the other six to leave them struggling at the Premiership basement.
But despite being many pundits’ tip for relegation this term, experienced defender Hunter believes they are more than capable of climbing the table in the weeks and months ahead.
“We are not panicking - far from it,” he said. “It has been a tough start but we are not disheartened. We have played some of the top clubs in the league, including Portadown, Linfield, Cliftonville and Glentoran.
“We have had a tough opening, but we are now hitting a run of games where we will hope to pick up points.”
Ards’ solitary win this season came against Ballymena United.
This weekend they travel to Stangmore Park to face Dungannon, followed by games against Ballinamallard and Coleraine.
