James Knowles kept Ards’ Danske Bank Premiership survival hopes alive on Friday night – but only just.

It will still take a minor miracle for Niall Currie’s boys to avoid relegation.

Marty Havern’s second half penalty kick at the Bangor Fuels Arena looked to have won this one for follow strugglers Warrenpoint Town.

But Knowles held his nerve to convert from the spot with 10 minutes remaining.

Earlier, Darren King headed Warrenpoint Town into the lead midway through the first half.

Ards appeared for the second half with a new vigour with Andy Mitchell squaring the game on 55 minutes.
