ARMAGH CITY 1 DOLLINGSTOWN 1

(aet, Armagh won on penalties)

Armagh City beat Dollingstown on penalties to win the Bob Radcliffe Cup final on Boxing Day.

The Championship Two side were forced to battle hard against their Intermediate A opponents before eventually prevailing in what was a scrappy encounter played at Loughgall FC.

Dollingstown made the better start to the game and Dale Malone capitalised on a mistake by Armagh’s Ryan McGerrigan to give his side the lead.

Armagh were ineffective in the opening period but improved considerably after the break and regularly pinned Dollingstown back without managing to find a cutting edge.

The equaliser eventually came 10 minutes from the end of full time courtesy of centre-half Darragh Noonan who powered home a corner.

The sides could not be separated after extra-time but it was Armagh came through to win via the penalty-spot with the winning penalty coming from Armagh’s Ultan Lennon.
