Ballinamallard United secured a vital point in their quest to stay in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Ballymena United keeps them two points ahead of Warrenpoint who suffered a 1-0 defeat to Coleraine.

Mark Stafford came closest in the closing 10 minutes with a powerful header from a corner which was beaten away on the goalline by keeper Aaron Shanahan before being scrambled to safety.

It was Stafford who came closest for the Mallards in the first half when he headed a Cathal Beacom free kick against the post.

Cushley and Jenkins had good efforts for Ballymena and striker Boyce threatened with two second half efforts.
