Cliftonville boss Tommy Breslin believes the arrival of Johnny Flynn will increase competition for places at Solitude next season.

Flynn will join up with the Reds in the summer after signing a pre-contract with the Irish Premiership champions.

The 24-year-old previously played for Ballymena United in the Irish League, and enjoyed spells with Blackburn Rovers, Ross County and Falkirk.

“Johnny is a very talented player and I’m delighted he has opted to join us next season,” Breslin said.

“He is a good age and has accumulated a lot of experience in full-time football in England and Scotland.

“He will add to the quality we already have at the club and will bring more competition to that area of the pitch.”

Club chairman Gerard Lawlor added: “We’re thrilled to have concluded the signing of a very talented player, whom everyone at the Club firmly believes can help us maintain and indeed improve upon the high standards that have been set in recent years.

“He will add to the squad and he has experience of playing across the water.”
