Cliftonville boss Tommy Breslin hailed his boys following their 2-0 League Cup semi final win over Ards at Clandeboye Park.
Midfielder Martin Donnelly hit home a sweet free kick midway through the first half, with Joe ‘The Goal’ Gormley grabbing the second just before the break.
The Reds will now face Crusaders in the final on January 25.
“I’m thrilled for the boys,” said Breslin. “The conditions were horrible and the wind spoiled it as a spectacle in many ways.
“At 2-0 at half-time, we were comfortable enough. The goals came at the right time and I suppose we were presented with the second due to a defensive error.
“I’m just delighted to be in the final.”
Ards boss Niall Currie admitted the best team won, adding: “They (Cliftonville) are difficult to live with in the last third. They play some great one touch stuff.
“But wee hung in there and battled. Had our finishing been a bit more clinical, we could possibly have got something out of it in the second half.
“I’ve no complaints... good luck to Cliftonville in the final.”
