Brian McCaul is hoping he can contribute to Ballymena United’s push for success this season.
McCaul has joined the Sky Blues on a one-year deal after leaving Glenavon.
The former Plymouth Argyle and Linfield midfielder was being tracked by a number of clubs during the summer, but has opted to join Glenn Ferguson’s early table-toppers
“I feel Ballymena is the right move for me. They have started the season very well and I want to help the club progress,” McCaul said.
“Glenn has assembled a lot of quality players and there’s real competition for places.
“I’m looking forward to it. I like what’s happening at Ballymena and I feel Glenn will get the best out of me.
“I was very impressed in my dealings with Glenn. He also told me I’ll be given the chance to play as a central midfielder and not a winger.”
Ferguson added: “Brian is the next best thing to a striker – an attacking midfielder who can score goals,” he said.
“I like him as a player. He’s bright, makes clever runs, is good on the ball and can finish. He boosts our attacking options.”
