Cliftonville could be ready to pounce for Mark McAllister after the striker was released by Linfield on Thursday night.
McAllister has been deemed surplus to requirements by new Blues boss Warren Feeney, who also confirmed the departures of Michael Gault, Matt Tipton, James Knowles and Kyle McVey.
Cliftonville are keen on former Dungannon forward McAllister, who signed for the Blues for £30,000 in 2009.
Portadown, Glentoran, Crusaders and Glenavon are also believed to be interested.
McAllister said on his Twitter account: “Just been made aware I’ve been released after five and a half years. Disappointed in the manner it was handled, but that’s football I’m afraid.
“I want to thank the fans, players and ex-coaching staff. I loved every moment of my time at Linfield. Now it’s time for a new challenge.”
