Crusaders 1 Ballymena United 0
Substitute Chris Morrow hit a late winner on Wednesday night to earn Crusaders a slot in the County Antrim Shield final.
The 28 year old, a second half replacement for Sean Cleary, sent holders Ballymena United packing with a gem of a strike.
Stephen Baxter’s team will now face Linfield in the showcase decider on December 3.
Baxter decided to leave a posse of this ‘big guns’ on the bench, but finally had to call on Morrow, Jordan Owens and Paul Heatley, in order to break break down the stubbborn United resistance.
Even though the game failed to live up the previous night’s semi final affair between Linfield and Cliftonville, Baxter was relieved to be in the final.
He said: “We knew we would have to work hard. Ballymena were the Shield holders and they were not coming here to give it away easily.
“It was a tough, tough night and I’m just relieved to get the win.”
